Good qualioby, but cumbersome
The quality of the printing and the scans is very good and the sheet feeder for scanning works well. The software interface for scanning controls is cumbersome, though, and requires too many steps. The single sheet feeder often feeds paper (when printing on legal size) crooked despite care in feeding.

It's amazing!
Shipping was quick, it was easy to assemble, & it's amazing that it fits 1 whole ream of paper in the printer now. I do a lot of printing for work, so it's nice to fill the printer with paper every few hours when before I was doing it roughly every 20 minutes.

1 month ago I purchased an M404dn for my workgroup after our 15+ year-old P4014dn failed. I also purchased the optional third paper tray. The printer has worked very well for us. It is fast, prints crisp text, was easy to setup on our network, and paper tray 3 was plug and play. Overall, it was a great buy and I highly recommend this printer.

I purchased the LaserJet Pro MFP M428fdn and couldn't stand that I was constantly running out of paper. This is a great addition to that printer. The printer would have been perfect if it held 500 sheets to begin with. Easy to set up and use the 3rd drawer.

Excellent extra tray
It's wonderful having an extra tray so that I don't have to reload as often when changing paper types. It even handles a big stack of postcards. One quibble: the documentation does not make it clear that this tray (tray 3) is the default one unless tray 1 has paper in it.
